Podcast with Jimmy Fitzgerald, VP Professional Services at ServiceNow, during Knowledge12
Posted by Paul Burns
This podcast was recorded at the Knowledge12 conference in New Orleans. Knowledge12 is billed as the world’s largest gathering of IT pros dedicated to transforming IT. CIOs to system administrators — and all roles in between — congregated for five days to share proven IT service automation strategies. They learned, among other things, how other IT pros achieve significant and real results with SaaS-based IT management and cloud computing.
In this nine and a half minute podcast, Jimmy Fitzgerald, VP Professional Services at ServiceNow, discusses the role of ServiceNow as a platform-as-a-service (PaaS) offering. ServiceNow is already known as a popular and rapidly growing SaaS-based IT service management (ITSM) solution that provides integrated capabilities across incident, problem, change, service catalog, CMDB and other ITSM functions. By delivering all this functionality through a single, easy-to-use SaaS offering, the company is greatly reducing ITSM product sprawl and achieving strong success displacing traditional software-based offerings.

Thoughts on HP’s Cloud Strategy
Posted by Paul Burns
On April 10, 2012, HP announced several new elements in its cloud computing strategy. Coverage in the press leading up to the announcement pitted HP against Amazon in public infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS). Fortunately, that is not how the announcement played out.
Here are my top initial thoughts on HP’s Converged Cloud strategy:
1. This is not an HP versus Amazon Story. And that is a good thing.

Cloud Computing in 2012: What’s Already Happening
Posted by Paul Burns
Just like model years for new cars, annual technology predictions are arriving earlier and earlier. For cloud computing, the predictions for 2012 started roIling in during October — before Halloween, perhaps to make them extra scary! The rate of new predictions seemed to peak toward the end of November and compilations of predictions from multiple sources was a popular way to showcase them during December. A few new predictions are still rolling in… after all, it is just now the beginning of 2012.
