AWS Pricing (Updated 2022)
AWS works on a pay-as-you-go model, meaning you only need to pay for the individual services you use for a given time. Unlike traditional approaches where companies had to pay huge upfront costs, AWS services can be subscribed to at much lower costs and it is easy to unsubscribe anytime.
Moreover, the maintenance and updates to the software are the responsibility of the service provider and companies do not need to pay anything for them. Compute Service Amazon EC2
There are four ways to pay for this AWS service:
- On-demand – Pay for compute capacity by the hour or second based on which instances you run. The price ranges from $0.0255 for an a1.medium instance to $0.3328 for a t3.2xlarge instance.
- Savings Plans – It is a flexible pricing model which involves lower prices compared to on-demand if a client commits to a specific usage for a one or three-year timeframe. The savings can be up to 75% compared to on-demand pricing.
- Reserved Instances – Amazon EC2 Reserved Instances offer a significant discount (around 72%) compared to on-demand pricing along with a capacity reservation when used in a specific Availability Zone.
- Spot Instances – With Spot instances, users pay the Spot price that is in effect for the time period your instances are running. Spot instances are available at a discount of up to 90% compared to on-demand pricing.
Storage Service Amazon S3
Here are the prices for Storage Service:
S3 Standard – General purpose storage for any type of data, typically used for frequently accessed data. First 50TB/month price is $0.023 per GB and over 500TB/month is $0.021 per GB.
S3 Intelligent – Tiering – Automatic cost savings for data with unknown or changing access patterns. Monitoring and automation all storage is $0.0025 per 1000 objects and archive instant access tier all storage/month are $0.004 per GB.
S3 Glacier Deep Archive – For long-term data archiving that can be accessed one or two times in a year and can be restored within 12 hours. Its all storage per month is $0.00099 per GB.
Networking and content delivery service Amazon Route 53
This service is priced based on three categories:
Managing hosted zones – $0.50 per hosted zone/month for the first 25 hosted zones
and $0.10 per hosted zone/month for additional hosted zones.
Serving DNS queries – Standard queries $0.40 per million queries – first 1 Billion queries/month and $0.20 per million queries – over 1 Billion queries/month.
Managing domain names – Domain names are registered in annual increments. The pricing for domain names varies by TLD.
Analytics service Amazon Redshift
Amazon Redshift allows users to start small at $0.25 per hour and scale up to petabytes of data and thousands of concurrent users. The on-demand pricing facilitates payment for provisioned capacity by the hour. The dc2.large dense compute DC2 is priced at $0.25 per hour whereas ds2.xlarge dense storage DS2 is priced at $0.85 per hour. Amazon Redshift managed storage per month pricing is $0.024 per GB. The Redshift Spectrum pricing is $5.00 per terabyte of data scanned.
