OpenShift is a portfolio of free cloud services that enable developers to deploy applications across multiple frameworks, languages and clouds. OpenShift is initially comprised of two cloud-based services, Flex and Express. These application platforms give developers the ability to easily deploy and manage applications on the cloud whether they were explicitly written for the cloud or not.
OpenShift Express is a free, cloud-based application platform for Ruby, PHP, and Python applications delivered in a shared-hosting model. It offers a simple application on-boarding experience, requiring just a few commands to deploy an application to the cloud.
OpenShift Flex is a free, cloud-based application platform for Java EE and PHP applications delivered in a dedicated hosting model. OpenShift Flex is an intelligent auto-scaling solution for applications in the cloud that doesn’t require templates to be tweaked or scripts to be written or maintained. It is meant for those who require a greater degree of control and choice over their middleware components with built in versioning, monitoring and auto-scaling.
